Our True Object Of Worship

Last Sunday’s sermon was preached by Pastor Harry on “Our True Object Of Worship” (Luke 2:13-20; Matthew 2:1-12) . The sermon and the whole service can be watched on our WIC YouTube Channel .   Two readings today – one from Luke, the other from Matthew. Both deal with situations surrounding the birth of Jesus. And they have one underlying theme: worship. In the first reading, the one angel is suddenly joined by a whole host of angels, visible to the shepherds, and all praising God on high! The shepherds hurry off to find the promised Saviour in a stable in nearby Bethlehem, and to worship Him. They tell Mary and Joseph about the angels – everyone is astonished.   In the second reading, it’s the wise men from the East who travel first to Jerusalem and then to Bethlehem, specially to worship the “new-born king of the Jews”, as they call Him. When they get there – following the star – they too bow down and worship the baby, offering Him the most expensive gifts they could...

Young Evangelicals Eager for Revival in Europe

From “Christianity Today” - June 2025 Doing her best Billy Graham impersonation—hand raised, mouth open as if in mid-proclamation of the gospel—a 20-something woman posed at an Instagram-ready podium tucked away in a side vestibule at the European Congress on Evangelism. Her friend snapped photos that made it look as if she were addressing the massive crowd at one of Graham’s historic meetings. But Ophelie Prisca-Diane, who is currently serving with Youth With A Mission in Paris, told Christianity Today she doesn’t think evangelism is just a thing of the past. In fact, she sees it as a thing of the future. She expects Christians her age to do big, big things.  ”There is a fire among us,” Prisca-Diane said.“Our generation is very open to the gospel, more than generations before.” She wasn’t the only one at the gathering of evangelical leaders with great expectations for Gen Z, the group of people currently between the ages of 13 and 28. Amid talk of secularization and potential pers...

Jesus Defines What Truth Is

By Daniel Lundy   What sets Christianity apart from all other faith systems is that it does not talk about man’s search for God. No, Christianity is the amazing story of God’s stepping down to earth, God searching for man. Christianity is the story of how God has appeared in our midst in the Person of Jesus, His Son. God has appeared. Everything else in Christianity depends on this one essential fact: God has appeared on earth. This in fact is what we celebrate at Christmas: God’s appearing in our midst in that tiny baby in Bethlehem.   Only One God But let us understand what this means. When the apostle John wrote that God had appeared, what did he mean by that? We must understand that John was a Jew. As a Jew, he believed in one God who was not to be confused with the world or any part of the world, but rather this one God had made the world, had made everything that can be seen, had made human life, the animal kingdom, the stars, the earth and all its elements. ...

The Coming of Truth

Last Sunday’s sermon was preached by Brother Kevin on “The Coming of Truth” (John 8: 48-58) . The sermon and the whole service  can be watched on our  WIC YouTube Channel : Intro - Jesus said He came to reveal the truth. - John 18:37:  Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.” - Many try to deny the truth that Jesus revealed. - They try attack his humanity in order to invalidate his divinity. - As we prepare to celebrate the birth of Christ, let us try to understand a bit more about the man called Jesus 1) His Humanity - Most scholars agree that Jesus was a real person. - There are 40 independant texts that refer to Him - They agree that He was a carpenter from Nazareth, was baptized by John, was a preacher and healer and died by crucifixion under Pontius Pilate. - The evidence for Jesus is myriad - they were written by his believers, hi...

God Is Exciting

Last Sunday’s sermon was preached by Pastor Harry on “God Is Exciting!” (Luke 1:26-58) . The sermon and the whole service can be watched on our WIC YouTube Channel : A few days ago, I was in a clinic where I’m on good terms with the nurse there. She’s very talkative, and we’ve known each other for several years – we always have something to talk about. This time – I don’t remember how we got onto the topic – I mentioned that our church helps homeless people financially over Christmas. The nurse suddenly seemed extremely interested, and asked what kind of a church we are. She loved the idea that we’re truly international and multi-denominational, and was really amazed when I told her I was the pastor – after all those years! All of a sudden, there was a passionate look on her face; and she started telling me everything that she thought was wrong with her own church, and how she wished she could speak English to attend our services! She was really excited to have this conversation!...

3rd-Century Jesus Fresco Discovered In Turkey

Image
Archaeologists have discovered a rare early Christian image of Christ in an underground tomb near Iznik, which specialists describe as exceptional for this region. Archaeologists in Turkey have discovered a unique third-century fresco depicting Jesus Christ, found on the wall of an ancient underground tomb. The discovery was made during archaeological excavations in Bursa Province and has already been described as exceptional for the early Christian period.   The fresco depicts Jesus in the image of the Good Shepherd – a young, beardless man in a simple tunic, walking across a field with a goat on his shoulders and surrounded by animals. Researchers note that this image directly echoes the Gospel motif “I am the Good Shepherd” found in the Gospel of John.   According to Turkish officials, the find is unique – it is the only known example to date of such an early Christian fresco outside Italy. Experts emphasize that the image confirms that early Christians used the same symbo...

God Is Salvation

Last Sunday’s sermon was preached by Pastor Harry on “God Is Salvation” (Romans 5:8-11 and Romans 1:18-20). The sermon and the whole service can be watched on our WIC YouTube Channel : God is salvation! “The Lord is my light and my salvation – so why should I be afraid?” What wonderful words from Psalm 27, our opening verse! God saves people! He saves those who are lost! He saves those who are in despair! He saves those who are seeking the truth, by showing them the truth! Because He is the truth! What a mighty God we serve! Above all, He saves us from our sins. That doesn’t mean we never sin again. But it does mean we can be safe with God in heaven when we die, instead of being punished for those sins, because God cancels our sins. And it means we can feel saved today – here and now – while we are still alive! Most people in the world don’t have that assurance that they are already saved now. They worry about whether God will forgive them their sins after death – but they can hav...

Lizzie Johnson (1869-1909) The Suffering Saint

By Bishop Frank W. Warne (1854-1932) When I was attending General Conference in Chicago in 1904, nearly a score of people said to me, “Do not go back to India until you have seen Lizzie Johnson.” I did not know Lizzie Johnson’s story, but was impressed that I should go to see her. I learned that she lived in Casey, in the southern part of Illinois. I took a night train, arrived in the morning, received directions from the stationmaster, and found a nice little house in a garden plot on a side street. A sweet-faced mother came to the door. I told her who I was and why I was there and said, “May I see Lizzie Johnson?” She replied, “Please, sit down in the parlour.” The mother left me and after some time returned, saying, “Lizzie will see you. Follow me.” I entered a neat little room and found it heavily curtained so that only the faintest light could get through. There I saw the face of a woman, who was lying upon the bed, marked with such pain as I had never seen before nor since. Lizzi...

God Is Holy

Last Sunday’s sermon was preached by Brother Kevin on “God Wants To Give Revival” (1 John 2 : 12 - 17). The sermon and the whole service can be watched on our WIC YouTube Channel: Intro - Why do we come to worship God? - When we worship God, we have to scknowledge his Godliness and Holiness. - God is the definition of Holy. You cannot have Holiness without God. Holiness vs Sin - From the moment of original sin, we have been unworthy to stand in Gods presence. - Romans 6:23 "The wages of sin is death". - Sin cannot exist in the presence of God, and as carriers of sin we are condemned to death in His presence. Jesus the High Priest - In the temple on priests were allowed into the Holy place, only High Priests into the Holy of Holies. - Once a year the High Priest represented the people and carried their sin to seek atonement. - If he was not properly cleansed, he would die in Gods presence. - Hebrews 8:1-2 NIV [1] Now the main point of what we are saying is this: We do have suc...

First-hand Report Of The Welsh Revival

By W. T. Stead (1849-1912) W. T. Stead was one of the great newspaper reporters of his day. He died on board the Titanic. Here is an extract from his account of the Welsh Revival of 1904 in just one Welsh village: Mardy. The revival had been going on in Mardy for a fortnight. All the churches had been holding services every night with great results. At the Baptist Church they had to report the addition of nearly fifty members, fifty were waiting for baptism, thirty-five backsliders had been reclaimed. In Mardy the fortnight’s services had resulted in 500 conversions. The revival is borne along upon billowing waves of sacred song. It is the singing, not the preaching, that is the instrument which is most efficacious in striking the hearts of men. The most extraordinary thing about the meetings which I attended was the extent to which they were absolutely without any human direction or leadership. The meetings open—after any amount of preliminary singing while the congregation is assembl...
